Showers of Blessing (Monday)
'There shall be showers of
blessing"-This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Saviour above.
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.
"There shall be showers of
blessing"-Precious receiving again;
Over the hill and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.
"There shall be showers of
blessing"-Send them upon us, O
Lord; Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come, and now honour Thy Word.
"There shall be showers of blessing"
-O that today they might fall;
Now as to God we're confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!
Lord for Tomorrow (Tuesday)
Lord, for tomorrow and its needs
I do not pray;
Keep me, my God, from stain of sin
Just for today.
Let me both diligently work
And duly pray;
Let me be kind in word and deed,
Just for today.
Let me no wrong or idle word
Unthinking say;
Set thou a seal upon my lips
Just for today.
This is my Prayer (Wednesday)
This is my prayer to thee, my Lord--strike,
strike at the root of penury in my heart.
Give me the strength lightly to
Bear my joys and sorrows.
This is my prayer to thee, my Lord--strike,
strike at the root of penury in my heart.
Give me the strength to
Make my love fruitful in service.
This is my prayer to thee, my Lord--strike,
strike at the root of penury in my heart.
Give me the strength to
Raise my mind high above daily trifles.
And give me the strength to surrender
My strength to thy will with love.
Count your Blessings (Thursday)
When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged" thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one
And it will surprise you what the Lord both done.
Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the crass seem heavy you are called to hear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.
When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings wealth can never buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.
So, amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be disheartened, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey's end.
Prayer of St. Francis Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
What a Friend we have(Friday)
What a Friend we have in
Jesus, All our sins and griefs to
bear! What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry,
Everything to God in prayer!
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrow share?
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumher'd with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He'll take and shield thee.
Thou will find a solace there.
My Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
But God, grant me the courage not to give up on what I think is right.
Bless our school and our homes
Guard and guide our teachers in all that they do and say
Help us always to choose right from wrong
Open our mind to instruction and keep us always in your loving care.
All Things Bright and Beautiful (Saturday)
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.
Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colours,
He made their tiny wings.
The purple headed mountain,
The river running by,
The sunset, and the morning,
That brightens up the sky.
He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell,
How great is God Almighty;
Who has made all things well.
To God be the Glory
To God be the glory, great things He has done!
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin, And
opened the life gate that all may go in.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord!
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, And
give Him the glory, great things He hath done!
O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood!
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing thru Jesus the Son; But purer,
and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see!
Geetanjali (Saturday Prayer)
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into
fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason
has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought
and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
- Rabindranath Tagore
How Great Thou Art
O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy paw'r throughout the universe displayed;
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to
Thee How great Thou art, how great Thou
art! Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to
thee How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When through the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,
And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.
And when I think; that God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died, to take away my sin;
When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then shall I bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!
Make me a Channel of your Peace
Make me a channel of your peace:
Where there is hatred let me bring your love,
Where there is injury your pardon, Lord, And
where there’s doubt true faith in you:
Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul!
Make me a channel of your peace:
Where there’s despair in life let me bring hope,
Where there is darkness, Lord, your shining light,
And where there’s sadness, ever joy:
Make me a channel of your peace:
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
In giving to all men that we receive,
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
Standing on the Promises of God
Standing on the promises of Christ the King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring;
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing, standing
Standing on the promises of God my Saviour
Standing, standing
I'm standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail, Standing
on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to him eternally by love's strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing an the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit's call,
Resting in my Saviour as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.
Great is Thy Faithfulness
"Great is Thy faithfulness", O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not,
As Thou hast been, Thou for ever will be.
"Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!"
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided...
"Great is Thy faithfulness". Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter, and spring time and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer
Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim through this barren land; I
am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy powerful hand;
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more, Feed
me till I want no more.
Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar Lead me
all my journey through; Strong
deliverer, strong Deliverer, Be Thou
still my strength and shield, Be Thou
still my strength and shield.
When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Bear me through the swelling current,
Land me safe on Canaan’s side;
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever give to Thee;
I will ever give to Thee.
